Privacy policy

Remoted keeps your saved computers and preferences on your device. This policy explains the app, remote connections, support messages and remoted.app.

Last updated: October 1, 2026

1. Scope and contact

This policy applies to Remoted and remoted.app. For questions about privacy or information you have shared with the development team, contact cognik.dev@gmail.com.

2. Information on your device

The app stores saved computer names, hostnames or IP addresses, ports, groups, connection preferences and connection history on your device to provide its computer library. If a desktop preview is saved, that image is also stored locally and may contain sensitive screen content. The library and preview directory are excluded from device backups by the app. Remoted does not send these records to a developer-operated database.

3. Passwords and authentication

When you enter credentials, the app uses them to authenticate with the computer you choose. Remembering credentials is optional. If enabled, credentials are stored in Apple's Keychain with access limited to the unlocked device; they are not synchronized by Remoted through iCloud Keychain. Passwords are not stored in the computer library, app preferences or desktop preview files. You can forget remembered credentials in the app.

4. Remote desktop connections

During a live session, your device and the selected computer exchange the authentication, desktop images, cursor information and supported input needed to operate the connection. Your computer and its network administrator may keep their own records. Remoted does not provide a hosted relay or record your desktop on a developer-operated service. The local network permission lets the app reach computers on your network.

Transport protections depend on the connection mode. Standard screen-sharing pixel traffic is not encrypted after authentication, and the current authentication handshake does not verify server identity. Use computers and networks you trust, or a VPN you control; a successful login is not a verified-host guarantee.

5. Analytics, advertising and Apple services

The current app does not include advertising, third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. No Remoted account is required. Apple handles app distribution and TestFlight and may process beta feedback, diagnostics and device information under its policies and your settings. Those Apple services are separate from the local computer library.

6. Support messages

If you contact us, we receive your email address, message and any files you choose to include. We use them to respond and investigate the request, and retain them only as reasonably necessary for support or legal obligations. Our support inbox is hosted by Google. Do not send passwords or private screen content. You may request deletion of messages you have shared.

7. This website

This website does not use analytics, advertising, tracking cookies or contact forms. Language links navigate between English and Spanish pages without storing a language profile. Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site and may process technical request data, such as IP addresses and headers, to deliver and protect its services under its privacy policy.

8. Retention, deletion and your choices

Saved computers and preferences remain on your device until you remove or change them. Removing a saved computer also removes its remembered credentials and saved preview through the app's deletion flow. Forgetting credentials removes the associated Keychain entry. Uninstalling an app does not necessarily remove its Keychain entries, so use the app's controls first. We cannot delete records held by your remote computer, Apple, network administrators or backups you manage. For information you have sent to us, contact cognik.dev@gmail.com; applicable law may give you rights to access, correct or delete it and to complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Changes

We will update this policy and its date when the app's data practices change. Material changes may also be described in the app or release notes.
